I've been to a few clinics and this one's pretty good if you need help with recovery.

It's not very likely that there's an incredible, amazing, easy-to-deal-with methadone program anywhere on earth. However, these guys aren't too bad. I first came to them as a guest doser, and had through some mistake been given such wrong information that by all rights they could have turned me away. Leila, Paula, Rose, and the woman who directs this and another location all worked very hard to accommodate me, and although I had to shuttle back and forth between Baltimore and Falls Church for two days, it worked out in the end in a way that they could have refused to facilitate at all. Guest dosing apparently takes at least two weeks' notice, and they pulled it off in three days while dealing with my huge, difficult program in Baltimore. When it became obvious that I was relocating rather than just checking out the area, they worked quickly to fit me in on the nearest intake day (the following day, very fast!). They also made certain that I didn't wind up in some bs paperwork trap and thus unable to dose--I missed no days of medicating and that was impressive, to me. The price is highway robbery, but it always is at private programs, and particularly in states where Medicaid doesn't cover it. Guest dosing was far more expensive, and they made sure to transfer money from my guest account to my permanent patient account within less than a week. This is something I had problems with in a similar program (governed by the same corporate group) in the past, and I had expected a much longer wait for resolution of my finances. Group requirements and protocol for take-home earning etc is practical and fair to those who work. My only gripe apart from the nightmare pricing is that they're open 7 days a week, something I'd only ever heard about once before. Having to show up seven days a week is definitely motivation to work toward take home doses. It's a small program, which means a lot more individual attention than you might get at a larger place. It's very clean, dosing is very secure, and the clientele don't loiter outside as they do in many larger metropolitan methadone programs. Also, it is possible to have a private insurance carrier reimburse for the cost, and they are very glad to provide the necessary receipts and documents with which to do so. Not ideal, but methadone programs never are. They recognize different levels of treatment: brief with the goal of tapering slowly over different periods of time (6 months, a year, 18 months) as well as long-term maintenance for people for whom MMT is the best choice.
